Once the rope has been proven safe cadets will use their skills and equipment to clip onto the one rope bridge and climb across. A part of the training culminates in a competition wherein teams of eight jrotc cadets must cross an obstacle using one rope and only the first and last cadets are allowed to touch the obstacle. One rope bridge. The rest of the cadets must traverse on the rope bridge.

This competition requires the use of several knots in the construction of the rope bridge. This example is used at competitions that allow you to preset up your rope.
